In Praise of the Herman Miller Aeron Chair - User Review
Hi. Robert Knechtel here, and ChairWinners.Com is one my favorites among a number of websites I operate. Almost every day I sit at my computer firmly entrenched in a chair that has worked beautifully for me for a good part of this decade. Here's how that came about.
I had to go to Boston to attend a conference. When I arrived and checked into my hotel room, in keeping with my obsessive habit I immediately set up my laptop and began getting online.
Within a few minutes I became conscious that the desk chair I was occupying was unusually comfortable and supportive for a standard fare hotel room. Then, I noticed on the desk one of those triangular stand up cards bearing a picture of the chair and learned it was a Herman Miller Chair. I wasn't familiar with that brand, but was quickly becoming sold on the features described on the card.
I had to put the card aside in order to plunge into my email and the various reports I needed to check. As I was doing so, it occurred to me that my own office chair was a piece of junk compared to the one I was sitting in. Nevertheless, I had stifle that thought in order to get down stairs to the real purpose of a conference which, most importantly, is always about meeting people, schmoozing with colleagues and catching up on the latest industry twaddle.
Well, it was a four day conference, so I had many more occasions to insert myself in the Herman Miller Chair which, it turned out, was something called an Aeron. At some point, a realization came over me that I was destined to own one. To make a long story short, on day three of the conference I went online and ordered a Herman Miller Aeron Chair.
As I write this little piece many years down the road, guess what chair I'm sitting in! And, you know, I'm a big guy and maybe a little rough on furniture, but it doesn't show the slightest sign of wear.
Over an extended lifetime of office habitation, I'm sure I've sat in hundreds of chairs of one description or another. All I can say is that there isn't an office chair in the world which can compare to a Herman Miller Aeron Chair in terms of comfort, support and durability. It's the quintessential exemplar of the ergonomic office chair.
Given my age, it probably will outlast me. We're going remain together for a long, long time. That's my Herman Miller experience, and my opinion, and I'm sticking with it!
